WHAT IS STEAM CAR WASH? HOW IS IT APPLIED?

GLOBOWAX | DETAILED CLEANING & STERILIZATION APPLICATIONS

What is Steam Car Wash and Detailed Sterilization?

Steam washing is the process of applying high-temperature steam (generated between 140°C and 165°C) to a car's exterior, seats, and engine using specialized high-pressure machinery. This method offers a different approach to cleaning compared to traditional water or chemical-based systems, coming with its own unique set of advantages and operational considerations.

How is Steam Car Wash Performed?

Steam cleaning can be applied using both fixed station units and mobile machinery. The equipment must be specifically engineered for automotive use to prevent damage. A typical steam cleaning session for a car takes between 50 to 70 minutes. While it provides deep cleaning and saves water, making it an eco-friendly option, the extended duration is a key factor to consider.

The Advantages of Steam Cleaning

Steam is effective at softening and removing stubborn grime that causes paint oxidation over time. When used correctly, it is a powerful tool for:

  • Sterilization: High heat kills bacteria and mites in the upholstery without heavy chemicals.
  • Chemical Reduction: It reduces the need for aggressive solvents.
  • Economy: For hygiene purposes, it can be more cost-effective than using gallons of disinfectant.

The GLOBOWAX Verdict: Disadvantages & Risks

At GLOBOWAX, we believe in transparency. While steam has its place, it has significant drawbacks compared to our Nano-Technology Dry Car Care system:

  1. Time Inefficiency (Time = Money): A standard dry or classic wash takes roughly 30 minutes. Due to the small surface area covered by a steam jet and the time required for the boiler to pressurize, a steam wash often exceeds 60 minutes. This drastically reduces the profitability of a high-volume station.
  2. Risk to Electronics: Modern cars are filled with sensitive digital sensors, navigation screens, and electronic components. Uncontrolled water vapor can penetrate these systems, leading to corrosion, rust, and expensive electrical failures.
  3. Operational Instability: Steam pressure can fluctuate during heavy use, leading to inconsistent results.

Our Recommendation:
Due to these factors, GLOBOWAX recommends using steam ONLY for "Detailed Cleaning" packages where higher service fees justify the time spent, rather than for standard daily washes. It is also highly effective for Marine Applications (boats and yachts) where water tolerance is higher.

What is the Mobile Steam Cleaning System?

This is an optional module that can be mounted inside a mobile van to support GLOBOWAX Dry Car Care products.

  • Best Use Cases: Ideally suited for industrial cleaning, hotels, hospital parking lots, and marinas.
  • Limitations: High startup costs, noise pollution from the generator, and the potential for mess (condensed water runoff) make it less suitable for premium residential driveways compared to our silent, waterless Nano-system.

We suggest adding Steam Equipment as a tertiary supportive tool for fixed stations, rather than the primary business model.

Steam Car Seat Cleaning

This is where steam truly shines. It cleans upholstery without soaking the foam, allowing for faster drying times compared to wet extraction.

  • Stain Removal: Dissolves organic stains easily.
  • Sanitization: The high temperature kills harmful microorganisms, providing a sterilized environment for families and children.

Steam Engine Cleaning

Cleaning an engine with high-pressure water is dangerous. Steam offers a safer alternative when done correctly, as it uses less water volume.

The Perfect Combo: For the ultimate result, we recommend using steam in conjunction with our DRY 6 | Engine Cleaner & Protector. The steam loosens the heavy grease, while DRY 6 dissolves it and dresses the plastics for a factory-new look.
